More than 30 people have attended on 23rd October 2012 the
workshop entitled"Renewables, sustainability in urban planning and
intelligent energy for European local authorities. The PATRES
experience"that took place in Brussels in the premises of the
Friuli Venezia Giulia Liaison office in Brussels in Rue du Commerce
49.
This event was part of the PATRES project -Public Administration
Training and coaching on Renewable Energy Systems funded by
the European Commission under the Intelligent Energy Europe
Programme and coordinated by AREA Science Park (Trieste), a project
that will end on April 2013.
The workshop was opened by Ms Maria Laguna from EACI, (European
Commission's Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation) who
presented the perspectives of EU Funding from the Intelligent
Energy Europe Programme in the future Horizon 20 20 planning.
Afterwards the project coordinator, Mr. Fabio Tomasi, pointed out
the main expected results that Patres project is close to reach in
the 6 countries involved with a particular focus on the current
state of the art in Croatia and Italy. Among the speakers, Mr.
Frédéric Boyer for the Covenant of Mayors, Ms. Elisabetta Cucchi
for the EIB (European Investment Bank), as well as two
representatives of other EU-funded projects dealing with energy and
environmental sustainability policies, Up-RES and
Ecoheat4Cities.
During the final debate it was discussed the main barriers that
hinder the achievement by the public authorities of the 2020
challenges in the field of energy, the gap between the innovative
regulations that are moving towards the promotion of RES and energy
efficiency and the lack of funding or loans available for
small-size investments.
